!@#$%^&*

Sarah, it is now my turn to vent.

As many of you already know, I have been applying to nursing schools and have become pretty frustrated during the process for many reasons. Reasons which include feeling like a I should, or would be, going to a certain school only to be rejected after months of getting medical records, letters of application, writing essays, and paying hundreds of dollars. Well the frustration continued when I received an email from Colorado that they had not received my transcripts, and 2 letters from the University of Arizona that they were missing my transcripts as well (I had sent them twice). So it shouldn't have surprised me when I got a "we-don't-have-your- transcripts-and-if-we-don't-receive-them-asap,-we-cannot-consider-your-application" email from the University of Utah. Well I wasn't surprised, I was irate!

I then spent the next 45 minutes trying to get our dumb computer to print out the transcript request form form BYU (because they don't allow you to do it through email or phone). The pdf file wouldn't open, and then it wouldn't print. I started throwing the mouse, banging on the keyboard, and yelling "I TOLD YOU TO OPEN!!" "PRINT, DANG YOU!! WHY WON'T YOU PRINT!?!?"

Finally, I finished filling out form, slipped on some shoes, and headed out to the car. As I was getting in I banged my head on the side of the car. "FREAK! I AM GOING TO CUSS!! I AM GOING TO DO IT!!!" This was probably loud enough for the neighbors to hear, but I didn't care. I finally got to the UPS store to fax my request. This really annoyed me as well. I do not trust fax machines. Do you know how many times I "faxed" something only to find out later they never received it. Or how many times coaches would be calling whomever to say they didn't receive a fax for the umpteenth time?? Granted it may have just been our crappy old fax machine, but I still didn't feel great about having to fax it. It would be, however, the fastest way possible. I checked the "priority mailing" box and not "when ever the students in the transcript office felt like getting around to mailing it" box on the form and paid the extra $3.50.

After 5 uncomfortable minutes of small talk with the lady in the UPS store while waiting for the fax to go through, she announces that the line is busy, and she'll try a little later. Well a little later the fax "went through". (I'm crossing my fingers). I paid the lady and left. I then saw the fine print at the bottom of the transcript form that said "Please allow our lazy student workers 3-5 days to put your piece of paper in the mail, even if you faxed the order to us, and paid extra to make sure it got there asap. We hope this doesn't screw up your life plans :) " Ok, maybe not the exact wording, but come on! I worked on campus. Maybe it wasn't as busy as the transcript office, but still, 3-5 days to print and mail a piece of paper? ARGH.

me too! would have cussed several times using several different words! Good luck, I hope the lazy student workers in the transcript office get your paperwork there asap. After all, it is in Utah, how long can it take to get it up there?
