An Ode to Wyoming

Do you know what my favorite place in Wyoming is?? Wamsutter. Because no matter which way you drive, you're heading out of Wyoming. Ha ha!

But actually my favorite place is at the Wyoming/Colorado border on Hwy 287. Those who have driven there will know what I am talking about. Those who haven't, should. It is proof that there is an opposition in all things; in this case ugly and beautiful. The flat, brown, tumbleweed-encompassed, mind-numbingly boring Wyoming, right up against the green, mountainous, breath-taking, heaven-esk Colorado. I kid you not, it is that drastic of a change. You can literally see the border by where the tree line is.

So as much as I have loathed driving for hours across Wyoming, several times a year, for 24 years...I have come to appreciate it's ugliness. It makes Colorado so much more beautiful!

I remember going to that BYU/Air Force game and driving forever through snowy Wyoming. I also remember getting that ticket- stupid semi. I HATE WYOMING. And then we got to the Colorado border and life perked up, the sun came out and we sang camp songs all the way to your house! When I remember that trip, Colorado brings feelings of springtime and daises; Wyoming bring a torrent of hate and bitterness. BLAH- Wyoming
