The Chocolate experiment

My mother recently bought a new brand of chocolate (Amano) for a price so ridiculous I’m not even going to mention it, because it has won international chocolate awards. Can a chocolate really be that good?

It was time for my family to have some fun. We went to the store and bought 6 other brands of milk chocolate bars for our 7th grade-level science fair experiment. We then blindly tasted and rated each chocolate. Sure, it would have been more accurate if we repeated the experiment many times, and sure the fact that we used milk as a palate cleanser might have played a factor, but ....meh.

My personal results were surprising to me. I ranked them on a scale of 1-10.

Cadbury – 9
Godiva – 7
Dove – 5
Hershey’s – 4
Lindt – 2
Symphony – 2
Amano – 0

I spit out the Amano. It tasted like wax to me. It might have something to do with the amount of sugar it lacked – but the package said milk chocolate so we went with it. So there you go. This will give you something to ponder about as you go to the store to satisfy your next chocolate craving.

You forgot the most important one! Ghirardelli's! Sigh! But it looks like fun. I think I might try this experiment myself.

We couldn't find any pure milk chocolate...that's why it's missing.

You violated the "classic" rules of chocolate tasting! I think we need to repeat the experiment while following the rules on the attached link! HA HA HA! who writes that stuff?

Great idea! Such a Deanna thing to do. However, I have to dispute your conclusions. They are totally out of whack. Torrie and I both really like Symphony and Lindt, and you have those near the bottom, so that has to be wrong.

The best chocolate I ever had was a bar of Godiva chocolate that Torrie and I ate while on a train from Brussels to Copenhagen. (Of course, that may have been because I was with Torrie on a train from Brussels to Copenhagen.)

"They were all Twix! It was a set-up!"

What were everyone else's results?

Dad preferred hershey's..haha. Mom liked the expensive one, and David liked either Godiva or Lindt. I don't remember. But all of us, but mom, hated the expensive chocolate.

Surprised you'd take Hersey's over Symphony, but you got Cadbury right. ;)
