I Can Die Happy

Last Saturday I met THE Ed McCaffrey! I got a picture with him, a signed little football, and asked him which Super Bowl meant the most to him. He said XXXII, to which I replied "me too!" Anyone who knows me well, knows how exciting this was for me. He is, after all, my favorite player of all time. However, the best part of the day came a few minutes later.

I met Ed because he was holding a football camp for kids with down syndrome. The kids scrimmaged for about an hour, while we sat and watched in the stands.
Here they are learning the Haka, and cheering with the Broncos' cheerleaders. The best cheerleader had to have been the boy in the hat.

Each player had a high school football player on the field with them helping them. As you could probably guess, it was a little chaotic, but amazing to watch. The kids got so excited when they did anything. One kid started running towards the end zone, but some defenders were in his way, so he turned around and ran 50 yards the other way before the whistle was blown. The kid proudly marched his way in front of the stands and bowed.

So, as exciting as life can be sometimes, it's really these experiences that make me think I can die happy.

While you were there, did he ever do the neck/head thing? Like, when he got hit and got up, and he'd shake his head back and forth?

MAN I love Easy Ed. I'm still jealous. If I were you, I'd be jealous of myself.
