Who Really Needs Sleep?

Insomnia - (in-psalm-knee-uh) noun. The inability to fall asleep though you are pretty sure that you are really really really really really tired. For some reason, we weren't made with a switch on our bodies that when flipped would put you into an instantaneous slumber, waking exactly 8 hours later. But not a bad idea, right? Favorite nightly activities for the insomniac may include blogging, tossing and turning in the bed, staring at the ceiling (or the bottom of the top bunk), planning your life though you know the plan will be changed in the morning, taking walks, and counting to see how long you can hold your breath. All activities may over stimulate the brain and therefore irritate the problem further. Insomniacs may also be seen as "lazy" by others as they engage in 4-5 hour naps in the afternoon. The causes may include stress, defected gene passed down on the paternal side, your body punishing you out of pure hatred, the 90-something degree air surrounding you, or the absence of a hypothalamus.
