Despite a very busy shift with a roll-over accident on I-70 and one very sick kid with pneumonia, at the end of the night there were no patients on the floor. This was a first for me. What else was there to do than play a prank on the on-coming shift? We dressed up in OB scrubs, hid in the OB room (which we never use) and when the next shift was on the floor waiting for us to show up to give report, we ran out of the room frantically looking for supplies. We then told them that there was a lady giving birth and to get into the OB room stat! Their faces of shock were priceless. They are both new nurses (like me) and we never deliver babies at our hospital. They ran into the room to find an empty bed. It took them a while to realize it was a joke, but by then my co-worker and I were doubled over, laughing so hard we were crying.
I realize it's not as funny in writing - one of those stories you had to be there to appreciate - and the factor of sleep deprivation may have made the situation funnier, but I was proud that after 10 years of being fearful to try and pull another prank (the last one didn't end so well), I was successful.

Ha ha ha :) I can just picture it! I bet it was hilarious!
I'm so proud! But, let's hope they don't get you back! :)
Ha Ha. I think it is funny, but you are right. Being tired makes people a little goofy. That makes it all the more fun.
